An infected, broken or stuck wisdom tooth can often be removed at our office in Tracy, Minnesota, sometimes the same day. Call (507) 555-0142 first so a time is held for you. One of our dentists plans the extraction with X-rays and a 3D scan when needed, numbs the area with local anesthesia, and offers nitrous oxide if you're nervous.
The $539.47 figure is an estimated maximum, not a fixed fee. It covers a limited emergency exam, one dental X-ray and a CBCT (3D) scan if the dentist needs one. Your actual charge depends on the imaging you need, and a CBCT scan is not always necessary. Treatment is charged separately and explained before any work starts.

Signs your wisdom tooth may need to come out now
- Repeated gum infections around a partly erupted wisdom tooth
- A wisdom tooth with a large cavity or a break
- Damage or decay on the molar in front of it
- Pain and swelling that keep returning
- A cyst or infection showing on an X-ray
The exam decides whether removal should happen today or after an infection has calmed. Severe swelling sometimes has to come down first. If swelling makes it hard to breathe or swallow, go to the emergency department at Sanford Tracy Medical Center.

What happens at your visit
Planning comes first. Lower wisdom teeth can sit close to the nerve that serves your lip and chin, and upper ones close to the sinus. A CBCT scan shows those structures in 3D so the dentist can plan the safest approach. You hear the plan and the price before anything starts.
The area is numbed with local anesthesia. Nitrous oxide is there if you want help relaxing. A wisdom tooth that's fully through the gum can be lifted out much like any other tooth. One that's under the gum or angled into its neighbor needs a small opening in the gum, and sometimes the tooth is removed in sections. A few stitches may close the area.
A small number of wisdom teeth are positioned in ways that need care we don't provide here. If yours is one, we explain why, help arrange it, and follow up with you.

Frequently asked questions
How long is recovery?
Most people feel noticeably better after three or four days, with full healing of the gum over the next few weeks. Rest the first day, eat soft food, and avoid straws, smoking and hard spitting. Your aftercare sheet walks through each day.
Will I be awake?
Yes. The area is fully numbed with local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide can help you relax. You'll feel pressure but shouldn't feel sharp pain. If you're very anxious, tell us when you call (507) 555-0142.
Should I get all four out at once?
Not necessarily. In an emergency the focus is the tooth causing the problem. The dentist can talk with you about the others at a later visit. See also wisdom tooth pain and tooth extraction.
